Starting today, a Sudbury Franco-Ontarian literacy centre is collecting used French books and other educational products to stack a used bookstore that will open next spring.

The goal of FRANCO (Centre franco-ontarien de ressources en alphabétisation) is to collect 10,000 books by Dec. 6.

People with French books, DVDs, CDs and educational games should contact FORA at 677-5681. Donors who drop them off at 432 Westmount Ave. will get a 10 per cent discount on a purchase made that day.

The bookstore will sell the products to the community at very affordable prices and offer workplace training to francophone youth at risk and adult learners.

The partners in the project are Le Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l'Ontario, Le Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario, Collège Boréal, Carrefour options+ and Centre Alpha Culturel de Sudbury. FORA thanks the Ontario Trillium Foundation and Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities for their financial support.
