Geoff and Brenda Goodman are helping the environment, one
printer cartridge at a time.
They refill ink-jet printer cartridges for less money than it
takes to buy a new one. They also sell refurbished toner
cartridges which can be compatible with some computers.
The Sudbury couple own two Island Ink-Jet franchises, one
located in the Southridge Mall and another at the New Sudbury
Centre.
"We refill any brand of printer cartridge. In some cases you
can save up to 53 percent," said Brenda.
Considering that a new cartridge can be $40 to $70 compared
to  $38 to $43 for a refill, the savings can mount up, she
said.
Print cartridges that end up in landfill sites contain
chemicals which can leach out into adjacent water bodies, she
said.
For those who want to replace their cartridges, there is
a  30-day money back guarantee on the re-manufactured
cartridges.
"We are excited to be promoting a business that helps the
environment as well as saving people money," said Brenda.
The couple will also tack up the business cards of green
businesses and organizations at their two locations.
"We like to promote green business in general, not just our
own."
The Goodmans learned about the Island Ink-Jet business when
they were in British Columbia.
"I saw their  booth in a mall so I discussed the business
with the individual staffing it for about an hour, looked at
the website, thought about our financial situation and ended up
being the first in Ontario to secure a franchise," said Geoff.
The New Sudbury Mall location has been in operation for six
years. The Southridge location opened in September.

Tips to maximize your Island Ink-Jet savings:
-  Do not replace the original tape back over the
printer-head, as it will mix the colours inside the cartridge.
-  Never let the cartridge run dry, or leave it out of the
printer.
-  Bring your cartridge to our nearest location in a zip
top bag.
-  Use your printer at least once a week.
