The absolute must-have fashion items ladies will want in their
wardrobe this season are "really sort of heading back to things
that are a little more structured, a little more serious," said
Canadian fashion designer Franco Mirabelli during a visit to
women's clothing store Carissa's Oct. 5. Jackets and trench
coats are an important clothing staple, he noted.
Hot colours are black and more black. "We will see a lot of
black this season. But there's a lot of charcoal grey and
espresso brown and a lot of really urban colours - very rich,"
said Mirabelli.
His publicist Norma Meneguzzi Spall said his signature style
has been described as modern, sophisticated and sexy.
"As a leading trendsetter in Canada's fashion scene, Mirabelli
has developed a reputation for his hip, sophisticated line. His
designs reflect his European roots, with an emphasis on
luxurious European fabrics and precise tailoring," she said.
Mirabelli's collection captures the fall-winter season in three
distinct moods:
"Urban Luxe" - structured, yet opulent suiting in very fine
stretch wools, Donegal tweeds and wools patterned in over-sized
windowpane and glen checks, and shots of violet and pomegranate
add drama to a palette of neutrals, black and white mixtures,
and shades of grey. The overall look is one of constructed
elegance with an urban edge.
"Eclectic Sporty Chic" - fun knits and zip-detailed jackets
rule the sporty portion of this collection which is
complimented by the addition of Mirabelli's new M-line dresses.
Eight edgy dresses in funky jersey prints present a youthful
and contemporary look.
High-Tech Glam - metallic fabrics in pewter and black dominate
in this collection of high-tech, glam dressing for holiday
2008. Look for sportswear and cocktail wear made from brocades
with interesting metal detailing and shimmering fabric.
Mirabelli has three corporate stores in Toronto and an ever-growing wholesale business across Canada and the United States.
