(NC) — As the summer kicks off, the Canadian boating industry expects to find customers watching their wallets and evaluating where to prioritize their discretionary income this year. As a result, boat dealers are offering some of the best deals on boats and boating products, creating a buyer’s paradise.

While recreational boating in Canada is perceived as an activity for the affluent, it actually attracts mostly middle-class participants. Most boats on Canada’s waterways are less than 21 feet in length with monthly payments of $200 or less.

“We’re all looking to spend quality time with family and friends in spite of busy schedules and financial means. That’s where boating offers a unique opportunity,” said Tracey Hart with Discover Boating. “It may be surprising to learn boating can be an affordable and convenient option, especially as more Canadians look for ways to vacation closer to home.”

For Canadians looking to chart their course to ownership, Discover Boating, the national awareness program on behalf of the recreational boating industry, has developed an online resource to answer questions and demonstrate the many lifestyle benefits of boating. An interactive affordability planner at DiscoverBoating.ca compares boating costs with other popular activities and helps break down the true cost of boat ownership. The website also offers tips on boat selection, local destinations and how to get started.
