Hats off to Meals on Wheels volunteers

Meals on Wheels Sudbury is giving thanks to all volunteers by hosting a variety of events during National Volunteer Week, which runs until May 3.

Chantal Makela, team leader, volunteer services for Meals on Wheels, explains National Volunteer Week was proclaimed by Mayor John Rodriguez at the 2008 Civic Awards presentation at City Hall, April 24. 

"Volunteerism is an integral component to the success of Meals on Wheels Sudbury and we are honoured to have the community show their support," she says.

Events include pancake breakfasts (at various locations throughout Greater Sudbury), as well as training sessions, discussion forums and presentations at Meals on Wheels Minnow Lake Place at 1127 Bancroft Dr.

Meals on Wheels (Sudbury) is dedicated to the development and implementation of nutrition programs, and recognizing the importance of a healthy approach to nutrition. They offer a variety of high-quality, home-cooked meals to suit the needs of its diverse clientele.

Their programs and services include Daily Hot Meals, Home Meal Replacements (frozen meals), Wheels to Meals, Meals for Moms and daily security checks. 

Meals on Wheels is a non-profit, charitable organization committed to quality community-based programming which enhances and promotes independence.
