With all the rain this summer, local gardens are bursting with beautiful flowers and succulent vegetables.
This Sunday, August 17, the Sudbury Horticultural Society shows off the efforts of its membership of 300 gardeners at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) on York Street, from noon until 4 p.m.
Included in the exhibition are flowers, vegetables, floral designs and photography.
"We have 107 categories from houseplants and potted plants to perennials and vegetables," said organizer Hermina Hubert Monday.
Up to 400 entries will be present, she said, as well as some great home baked cookies.
An admission fee of $2 includes desserts and coffee.
The gardening society is one of the oldest in the province and is very much involved in the community, said Hubert.
"We have up to two dozen volunteers come out weekly to keep the park at Paris Street and John Street weed-free and looking beautiful. We also maintain the gardens around the CNIB building where we hold our meetings the last Sunday of every month," she said.
