Free workshops and demonstrations will be held at Science North until April 5 during the 100 Hours of Astronomy event.

Visitors can learn about sundials and telescopes and connect to the world of astronomy via webcasts. Star parties will be held at 7:30 p.m. nightly until April 5.

Explore the night sky through a 12-inch Meade telescope and see the rings of Saturn, the Andromeda Galaxy, the Ring Nebula and the lady of the moon.

To attend the star parties (weather permitting), phone the Science North Star Party Hotline at 522-3701 ext. 243, after 6 p.m. on the night of the event for more details.

This event celebrates the 2009 International Year of Astronomy. The world is celebrating the 400th anniversary of the first use of an astronomical telescope by Galileo Galilei.

Science North, in partnership with Laurentian University and the Sudbury Astronomy Club is hosting a series of free star parties and public presentations over the next 12 months.

The next presentation is scheduled for Good Friday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Science North Gold Room. For more information about star parties and presentations, go to sciencenorth.ca/starparty or phone 522-3701.
