BY JUDI KOSKI

Sudbury's very own Ignatius Fay has released a full-colour volume of poetry titled Haiga Moments: Pens and Lens.

This photographically illustrated Haiku/Senryu poetry features photos by Raymond Belcourt, a lifelong friend of Fay's.

Their collaborative work reveals a deep-rooted fascination with nature, and the need to express their observations through their particular art forms.

Fay grew up in Levack and now resides in Sudbury. He says haiku is a form of Japanese poetry developed in the 17th century.

The subject matter focuses on examinations or comments on nature and the world at large, traditionally with some reference to the seasons. He has been writing haiku and senryu since 1990.

Belcourt, the photographer, was raised in Blezard Valley and spent much of his youth hunting, fishing and trapping in the wilderness.

His love of nature contributed to the development of his discerning eye for landscapes and natural form. He currently resides in Leduc, Alberta.

For further information about this little volume contact Pens & Lens, P.O. Box 1182, Nisku, Alberta, T9E 8A8.

In Sudbury the book can be purchased at LetterPerfect Printing, 1169 Dollard Ave., Unit B. Call 524-1927 or [email protected] . It is also available at Cambrian College Bookstore and One More Book Store, 765 Barrydowne Road.
