"Here After marks a return to my supernatural roots, after a brief foray into the thriller genre with Finders Keepers and Sandman. I'm hoping fans of the original three horror novels will be pleased," says local author Sean Costello.

He will launch his sixth novel, published by Your Scrivener Press, on Friday, Oct. 17 at the Jubilee Hall, 195 Applegrove St.,  at 7 p.m.

Admission and refreshments are free, and entertainment will be provided by the local classic rock band Stray Bullet, Costello's son Steven's band.

Here After is "is, by far, the most difficult book I've ever written," explains Costello.

While researching this novel, he "became aware of the vital role organizations like Child Find play in the process of returning missing children to their families."

In honour of that role, he's donating all personal proceeds from the novel to Child Find.

Here After is a story of love, loss, obsession and redemption with gripping action sequences and a subtle supernatural underpinning. A compelling read from a seasoned storyteller, Here After will keep you reading deep into the night.

According to Susie Moloney, author of The Dwelling, "Sean Costello is a master of the poignancy of everyday living. In Here After he tackles a difficult subject with wit and humanity-and a couple of really good scares. It's a father and son story that will touch your heart."

Mark Leslie, author of One Hand Screaming, says "In Here After Sean Costello grabs his readers with both hands; one closes deftly around the heart, offering a touching and devastating glimpse of the loss of a child; the other propels you on a breathless quest, sometimes eagerly, the way a child might lead a parent through a fairground-and sometimes with a startlingly quick choke hold on the windpipe."

Sean Costello has been practicing anesthesiology in Sudbury since 1981. In the late 80s and early 90s he published a series of mass market horror novels that garnered him not unrealistic comparisons to Stephen King, and a fan following (Eden's Eyes, Pocket Books, 1989; The Cartoonist, Pocket Books, 1990; Captain Quad, Pocket Books, 1991).

Almost 10 years later his work displays a significant shift to the psychological side of the spectrum from the horror side (Finders Keepers, Red Tower, 2002; Sandman, Red Tower, 2003).

Here After maintains the psychological intensity while marking a return to the paranormal. For more information, check out his website at www.seancostello.net
