The Laurentian University Pipe Band and Dancers present A Wee Bit o' Burns, celebrating the life of Scottish poet Robert Burns Saturday, Jan. 26 at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76, 1553 Weller St. in Minnow Lake.

"Robbie Burns had a tremendous impact that lasts today 249 years after his birth," said Derek Young, Pipe Major for the band.

"For example the words to Auld Lang Syne that people sang New Year's Eve are in fact from a poem by Robbie Burns. His poetry reflected a man who was very down to earth, with a zest for life," said Young.

The evening will begin at 5:30 pm with cocktails followed by a roast beef and haggis dinner. Performances by guitarist Andrew Lowe and the Laurentian University Pipe Bands  will take place. Highland Dancers from the Laurentian university Pipe Band will be part of the fun.

Tickets are $30, advance only. Phone Pipe Major Derek young at 691-5677 or email [email protected] .
