Events were held starting June 21, and will continue until June 28.

On June 27, there will be a tribute at the Fraser Auditorium to Cano, a franco-Ontarian group, and Harmonium, a group from Quebec. Both groups were popular in the 1970s. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Tickets cost $25 for adults, $20 for those between the ages of 12-18 and over 65, and $70 for a family package for two adults and two children.

For the Cano tribute, David Poulin, the show's musical director, has put together an array of talent, including Antoine Tremblay-Beaulieu, Maurice and Chris Berthiaume (father and son), Patricia Cano, Jacques Grylls, Ed Landry, Serge Monette and Stef Paquette.

Harmonium's music will be interpreted by Poulin on vocals, Grylls and Guy Coutu on guitar, Berthiaume on keyboard, Stephane Benard on bass and Dan Veilleux on drums.

On June 28, there will be a creative writing festival for kids aged two-18 at College Boreal called the Festival de la mauvaise herbe. The festival is put on by the Salon du livre. The event starts at 10 a.m. and wraps up at 1 p.m.

French children's singer Shilvi will entertain after the literary festival. The show is designed for children between the ages of two and six.

“This is a first for this adorable character, who can’t yet pronounce her own name, Sylvie,” stated a press release. “This small girl’s charming melodies and sweet ways are sure to charm children and parents alike. Shilvi’s show is presented by le Salon du livre du Grand Sudbury, la Slague and le Collège Boréal.”
