Summerfest ‘ready to rock’ downtown

Like many festivals before it this season, Summerfest will call a new venue home this year. A number of performers will take the stage downtown, between Elgin, Durham and Elm Streets, from Aug. 27 to 29.

Like many festivals before it this season, Summerfest will call a new venue home this year.

A number of performers will take the stage downtown, between Elgin, Durham and Elm Streets, from Aug. 27 to 29.
According to Summerfest’s website, downtown will be “all dressed up” with “music, jugglers, steel drums and tantalizing smells,” ready to “rock and roll.”

The festival includes performers who play a variety of genres, from folk to rock n’ roll to up-and-coming artists.

Headliners include David Wilcox and George Olliver with the Bluez Brotherz on Aug. 27, Faber Drive with Fefe Dobson, These Kids Wear Crowns, Frankie Whyte and the Dead Idols on Aug. 28, and 54-40 and Headpins with the Joys on Aug. 29.

Free shows will be put on during the day by local artists on the main stage, as well as the acoustic stage, and a family stage will provide entertainment for everyone. Other child-friendly activities and a number of vendors and artisans will also have booths set up during the festival.

Advance tickets to evening shows on the main stage cost $32.75, and weekend passes to the annual festival are $89. Tickets at the gate for shows on Aug. 27 and Aug. 28 cost $42.50, and $47.80 for Aug. 29. Weekend passes at the gate cost $108.
