Normal adoption fees are being waved for the latest adopt-a-thon and open house at the Rainbow District Animal Shelter.

On Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the shelter, located at 411 St. Agnes St. West in Azilda, will waive the normal adoption fees for the day and will only charge the fee for the municipal licence for dogs and cats or the cost of spay/neuters and microchips for animals that need to be fixed.

Previous events have been a resounding success with many dogs and cats being adopted, said the shelter in a media release.

A steady stream of visitors can be seen at these open houses, many just to take advantage of the tour around the shelter.

For the cost of a licence alone, there will be several beautiful, friendly, playful and healthy fixed and vaccinated older animals looking for homes.

Anyone interested in adopting a pet or who would like a tour of the animal shelter is welcome to attend and enjoy a complimentary barbecue and refreshments.
