As local parents ramp up the fight to keep their kids' schools open, another sign criticizing the Rainbow District School Board has appeared on Highway 17 West in the Sudbury area.

Chantelle Gorham, whose seven-year-old daughter attends Larchwood Public School, one of the schools on the chopping block, posted a picture of the sign on Sudbury.com's Facebook page.

It reads as follows: “Rainbow School Board banned trustee note taking, prohibits video & audio recording, trespass issued – informed parents, ejected trustee from meeting. #RainbowTransparency?”

The sign appears to refer to several issues involving the Rainbow board that Sudbury.com has reported on over the last few years.

That includes the case of Dylan and Anita Gibson, parents who were banned from the downtown Rainbow board office and the board's high schools in 2012.

Unhappy with the board after their child's school closed, the Gibsons often video-recorded at board meetings. After the parents' banning, the board restricted who can video-record at trustees' meetings.

The Rainbow board has promised to be more transparent than in past years when it comes to the current accommodation review.

Earlier this month, a different billboard criticizing the Rainbow board was erected on Highway 17. That sign refers to the accommodation review that's currently underway, which may see the Rainbow board close up to 12 of its schools.

The sign reads as follows: “Rainbow School Board closing 25% of schools to justify 2% shortfall while spending $7 million on new board office #SelfishMath.”
