Ontario reported 47 new COVID-19 cases Sunday at 10:30 a.m., bringing the provincial total to 424. The total includes eight resolved cases and three deaths.

Original Story

Ontario has been in a state of emergency for six days now, but while business considered non-essential comes to a sudden stop, the virus inspiring the closures continues to push on.

Public Health Sudbury and District (PHSD) confirmed the third case of COVID-19 in the area Sunday, to be a woman in her 40s who flew home from Geneva, Switzerland on March 11.

The first positive case was announced on March 10 to be a man in his 50's, who is believed to have contracted the virus while attending the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada conference in Toronto earlier that month. The second case was announced on March 15 to be a woman in her 50's who had been in close contact with the original case.

Ontario has reported 377 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province as of 4 a.m. on March 22, in addition to a total of three related deaths and six recoveries since the outbreak began.

This total includes the first case of COVID-19 reported in the Northwest Territories Sunday, after the individual in question travelled to British Columbia and Alberta before returning home to Yellowknife.

There are still 7,239 individuals awaiting test results in the province.

There were 1,286 confirmed and 45 presumed cases of COVID-19 in Canada as of 4 a.m. on March 22, not including the 19 related deaths and 13 resolved cases thus far.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases world-wide was 267,013 as of 4:38 p.m. on March 21, in 185 different countries, areas, or territories. There have been 11,201 confirmed COVID-19 related deaths since the outbreak began.
