Cecchetto and Sons has issued an email statement after the death of one of its employees on Vale property in Copper Cliff April 6.
“At Cecchetto and Sons, we are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and colleague,” said the statement.
“Our focus is on supporting the family and our employees through this incredibly difficult time. We will not be releasing the employee’s name at this time out of respect for the family.”
According to the Ministry of Labour, the Cecchetto and Sons employee was pinned under the tires of a dump truck, sustaining fatal injuries.
The worker was disposing waste materials in the Vale tailings area for the mining company's Clean AER project at the time.
The incident is under investigation by the Ministry of Labour.
