Celebrate Nurse Practitioners this week

Members of the Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) are celebrating Nurse Practitioner Week across the province.

From Nov. 8-14, this annual celebration is intended to bring awareness and recognition to the exceptional care provided by the province's 2,669 Nurse Practitioners (NPs).

"Nurse Practitioners provide high-quality health care in hospitals, long-term care facilities and the community each and every day," said ONA President Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN.

NPs are registered nurses with extended training, enabling them to provide primary care to patients, order tests and prescribe many medications. The work of NPs is helping to transform health care through their safe, collaborative and effective care and they are trusted and valued by their patients.

ONA continues to advocate for fair and equitable wages, benefits and pensions for Nurse Practitioners across Ontario.

Ontarians depend on NPs and this is an opportunity for us to say thank you for their care.

ONA is the union representing 60,000 front-line registered nurses and allied health professionals as well as more than 14,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in Ontario hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, industry and clinics.
