Greater Sudbury Mayor Marianne Matichuk and members of city council are calling on citizens to show community pride by participating in a two-hour Clean Up Blitz, which runs 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4.  Participants are asked to do their part by spending two hours picking up roadside litter.

“Helping keep this beautiful city clean and safe is everyone’s responsibility,” Matichuk said in a release. “Two hours can make a big difference and getting involved in your community is an important responsibility we all share.”

Prizes this year include a big blue recycling bin, a backyard composter and a year’s supply of compostable bags.

Participants must pre-register by April 29 at any Citizen Service Centre or by downloading the registration package from www.greatersudbury.ca/wastemanagement. Completed forms can be faxed to 705-671-1148 or emailed to [email protected].

Safety vests, gloves and garbage bags will be supplied. All participants must review safety tips and sign a waiver. Names of participants listed on the waiver forms will have their names entered in a draw for an opportunity to win prizes.
