The City of Greater Sudbury announced June 12 that it has created a new, streamlined application process for local restaurants that want to open or expand an outdoor eating area.

Patios are now permitted under Stage 2 of the provincial COVID-19 restart plan and restaurant owners couldn’t be happier.

If you are a business owner looking to set up a patio you can email [email protected] for assistance or visit GreaterSudbury.ca/MunicipalSupport for information.

The city said it has assembled a review team of municipal and external agencies, including Public Health Sudbury & Districts and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, to provide rapid response to applicants.

To assist with economy recovery, the city is also waiving the $1.50 per square metre monthly permit fee associated with the set-up of outdoor dining spaces on public properties.

The City of Greater Sudbury offers assistance to all businesses through its dedicated Business Support Hotline at 705-690-9937.
