Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Greater Sudbury area.

The right conditions are in place for the development of dangerous thunderstorms today, capable of producing wind gusts up to 90 km/h and torrential rain.

These storms will likely develop this afternoon and evening, Environment Canada says.

Gusts may be strong enough to damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road, while heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Be mindful of the conditions today.

Continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
