Inquest set into inmate's death

An inquest into the death of Dwane Turk, who died while an inmate at the North Bay District Jail, has been called for June 21. Dr. Craig Muir, Regional Supervising Coroner for the North Region announced the date. Turk, 55, died on March 22, 2011.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Turk's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last two days and to hear from approximately seven witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on June 21 at the North Bay Courthouse, courtroom 303, 360 Plouffe St.

Dr. S. Bodley will preside as inquest coroner and John Holland will be counsel to the coroner.
