Kicking it with the kids

Whether your kid wants to learn a new martial arts technique, or gain some useful anti-bullying tips, or perhaps just have a good fun Sunday, the KICK FOR KIDS workshop on April 28 is just the place to be.

Whether your kid wants to learn a new martial arts technique, or gain some useful anti-bullying tips, or perhaps just have a good fun Sunday, the KICK FOR KIDS workshop on April 28 is just the place to be.

The workshop is free and is targeted at children between the ages of four and 12.

KICK FOR KIDS is part of an effort by ChangeTheWorld, an Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge, that aims to get youth between 14 and 18 years old to volunteer in the community through a variety of initiatives.

On Sunday, Sarra Gratton, a Grade 11 student at Lasalle Secondary School, will be one such volunteer.

She will host the workshop.

During the workshop, children will learn how to prevent bullying and how to react if ever they should find themselves in a dangerous situation with a stranger.

Martial arts techniques will also be taught and children will gain experience on how to interact with other kids.

The workshop takes place on Sunday, April 28 from 11 a.m. t 3:30 p.m. at the Gymzone Family Fitness Centre located at 1311 Gemmell St.

ChangeTheWorld 2013 is co-ordinated in Greater Sudbury with the assistance of Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury. It will be held all across Ontario from April 21 to May 20.
