The province has provided $125,000 that will be split between those companies.

“We need to not only be the builders of our community, but we need to be the creators and innovators,” said Bartolucci. “By investing in emerging technologies we are ensuring that our local businesses can compete in the global economy and thrive.”

Lacasse Fine Wood Products Inc. will get $62,500 to test modern tooling machinery and research laser woodworking technology to help create a niche market for a variety of smaller scale runs.

TesMan Inc., a consulting firm and innovative product development company for the underground mining industry, will also get $62,500 to assist with the patent and marketing of an Industrial Motion Capture System, which will improve tunnelling safety.

“Today’s investment will help bring new and exciting opportunities to our community while building the economy of tomorrow,” said Bartolucci.
