No details yet, but the North Bay couple lost in B.C for a week have been found safe and in good shape.

The two were found late Sunday afternoon.

Rick Moynan and his girlfriend Lynne Carmody left for a hike last Monday morning in the Cathedral Lakes area west of Keremeos, B.C. but never returned.

The pair told employees of the lodge where they were staying Monday that they would be back by dinner, but did not arrive back by that time.

Search and Rescue officials told Global News the couple made the right choice when they got lost by heading to water.

They spent several days in a drainage-valley, where they built a shelter and waited for help.

The way they were found was far from ordinary.

On Saturday night, search crews were close enough to the couple that they could see the ropes on the helicopters that were pulling people out of the search area. They walked up the hill to the landing area, stunning the search crews.

The two were found shortly after rescue crews informed the family they were going to be calling off the search.

“Best possible ending for one of these searches,” Paul Berry of Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue told Global News.

The two were taken to hospital as a precaution, as they sustained minor injuries during their time in the woods.
