The Ministry of Labour has completed on-site collection of evidence following the fatal roof collapse at the Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake on June 23, 2012.

Control of the site has been transferred to the property owner, Eastwood Mall Inc., and representatives of the insurance carrier, Zurich Insurance Group Inc., the MOL said in a news release. The Ministry of Labour's investigation continues.

For safety reasons, orders issued by the Ministry and Building Code issued by the City of Elliot Lake restricting access remain in effect and no one is allowed to enter the Algo Centre Mall or Inn.

The property owner is required to develop a plan to stabilize the structure. This plan will be approved by the ministry before the owner can access the building and conduct a structural evaluation.

Specific questions regarding the property should be directed to Eastwood's legal representatives, Brown & Fabris Law Office in Elliot Lake at 705-848-0808.
