This news release was issued May 29, 2018, by the NDP on behalf of Sudbury candidate Jamie West and Nickel Belt candidate France Gélinas

Ontarians just can’t trust Doug Ford to fix Kathleen Wynne’s Hydro mess.

ONE YEAR AGO

Ford’s Energy Critic Todd Smith called Wynne’s so-called Fair Hydro Plan “deceitful, dishonest and shady,” (CBC Oct. 17, 2017). A Conservative news release even warned rates will “skyrocket to highest level ever after election” (OntarioPC.ca news release May 11, 2017).

TODAY

Smith criticized Andrea Horwath’s plan to begin undoing the damage Kathleen Wynne caused by privatizing Hydro One.

Wynne’s $40 billion hydro borrowing scheme will increase hydro rates by 70 per cent – Smith would know that because he himself released the leaked cabinet documents showing the projected spike.

Only the NDP have a plan to lower hydro rates by 30 per cent, and bring Hydro One back into the ownership of the people of Ontario – where it belongs.
