The president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) is in Sudbury for the public meeting opposing the province's planned privatization of Hydro One.
The $4 billion the sale is expected to bring in will help fund a $130 billion, 10-year infrastructure plan.
Nickel Belt MPP France Gélinas, who plans to participate in next Wednesday's public meeting, said selling Hydro One would “drive up rates, hurt local communities and jobs and is a one-time, dead-end source of funding.”
The public meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the United Steelworkers Hall on Brady Street.
