The union representing strike Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) workers said there were “significant traffic delays” at the entrance to Laurentian University Sept. 16, but they weren't caused by their picket lines.

The union representing strike Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) workers said there were “significant traffic delays” at the entrance to Laurentian University Sept. 16, but they weren't caused by their picket lines.

A press release put out by OPSEU Local 677 said the traffic delays were caused by a malfunction at the automatic gate at parking lot 16 at the university.

The union has “been working closely with Laurentian University security and members of the Sudbury Regional Police to minimize the impact on traffic” associated with the strike, the press release said.

At the end of the business day Sept. 16, Laurentian could not confirm that the problem would be rectified for Sept. 17, stated the press release. Laurentian officials were not immediately available for comment.
