For the third day in a row, Public Health Sudbury and Districts (PHSD) is reporting no new cases of COVID-19 for today, July 30.

PHSD also said there are seven active cases being monitored by public health officials.

Also, since the PHSD began tracking COVID-19 cases, there have been 2,183 total COVID-19 cases confirmed locally. PHSD also said 2,176 of those cases have now been resolved.

There are also now 999 cases that are "confirmed or presumed to be" for variants of concern. This number has not changed since Tuesday.

Since the pandemic was declared in March 2020, 31 people in the region have died as a result of contracting COVID-19.

Epidemiological data showed that the majority of local cases are persons in the 20 to 39 age category with 716 total cases (no change).

The next highest group number was 547 cases for the 40 to 59 age group (no change).

The next highest number was 523 cases for the 19 and under age group (no change).

Seniors in the 60 to 79 age group amounted to 302 cases total (no change), and people aged 80 and over are currently the lowest category with 95 cases (no change).

There were also no cases reported in the "unspecified category".

The numbers above may not completely correspond with the daily case count because PHSD does not always report changes on the day they occur.

With respect to COVID-19 testing, 268,669 tests have been performed in the PHSD region as of July 30, an increase of 551 since the last PHSD test report.

As for local vaccinations, PHSD reported a cumulative total of 233,391 vaccines given in the entire PHSD area. There are also 103,719 local residents who are now fully vaccinated.

PHSD has also reported there are no current outbreaks declared in any local settings.

Also, at Sudbury's Health Sciences North, as of July 30 there are no admitted patients with confirmed COVID-19 at the hospital, said the HSN website. In addition to this there are three admitted patients "being tested" for COVID-19.

On the provincial COVID-19 register today, the Ontario government daily website reported 226 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases across the province. Also today, the province reported 11 new deaths had occurred in the past 24 hours.
