Round up raises $1,500

By rounding up their purchases to the a higher dollar amount, Sears customers helped support the Pre-Teen After School Program at O'Connor Park for two months.

By rounding up their purchases to the a higher dollar amount, Sears customers helped support the Pre-Teen After School Program at O'Connor Park for two months.

The program provides children in the Donovan and Flour Mill areas with a safe environment, a nutritious snack, a place to do their homework, co-operative play, arts and crafts, outdoor activities and occasional field trips. The free program, part of the Better Beginnings Better Future program, is offered to children between the ages of nine and 13.

Sears Canada played host to its annual round up May 12-13. Customers raised $1,595 for the event, a total that was matched by the company. Last year, the event raised $11,701. Sears has been supporting Better Beginning Better Futures for about eight years, according to the company.
