Services held to mark Day of Mourning

Two services are being conducted in Sudbury today to mark the Day of Mourning for workers who have been killed, injured or disabled on the job.

The Sudbury and District Labour Council is holding the first service at Tom Davies Square starting at 10 a.m.

Steelworkers Local 6500 will conduct another service at the Caruso Club starting at 12 p.m. Steelworkers international president Leo Gerard and Gerry Lougheed Jr. will be the guest speakers.

Sudbury was the first region in Canada to declare April 28 an official Day of Mourning.
