The Shoebox Project for Shelters is collecting boxes here in Sudbury during the month of November.

The project, supported by Dream, collects and distributes gifts in the form of shoeboxes to those who are homeless or at high risk of homelessness.

Each Shoebox is filled with items valued at $50 that anyone is likely to enjoy, but may not splurge on for herself in difficult times.

Locally, items go to Barrydowne College, the Elizabeth Fry Society, the HSN Elder Life Program, HSN Violence Intervention and Prevention, the John Howard Society, Le Foyer Notre-Dame and Pregnancy Care Centre.

“Last year, the Sudbury Shoebox Project delivered 530 of gifts to 10 different residences/agencies in Sudbury,” said a press release. “The year before we delivered 1010! We need your help to make this the best year yet!”

Here's how you find out what to put in a shoebox. Click here to learn where to drop them off locally.
