Sudbury Police conducting evidence search near McNeil Boulevard

Police seeking evidence related to homicide investigation of Carol Fournier whose body was discovered November 8, 2023

Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) said Saturday an evidence search is being carried out in a wooded area in the city as the result of a body being discovered on November 8, 2023.
Police said that was the day that the discovery occurred of the body of Carol Fournier. The victim's body was located shortly before 2:40 p.m. in a wooded area west of McNeil Boulevard (west of Beatty Street), north of the railway tracks, said police.

"Members of our search and rescue team will be conducting an evidence search this morning, November 11, 2023, in the wooded area and trails surrounding the location where Carol Fournier’s body was found. Please remain out of this area until further notice," said a statement from GSPS.
"Based on the preliminary results of the post-mortem conducted through the Coroner’s Office, the individual located deceased on November 8, 2023 died as the result of blunt-force injuries," said an updated statement posted by GSPS on social media.

"This is being treated as a homicide investigation and Detectives from the Major Crime Section of our Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the incident. Anyone with information related to this matter is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171 or Crime Stoppers at 705-222-8477," said the police statement.
