Two years ago, Sudbury.com launched its Acts of Kindness (AOK) program with a very special Thanksgiving surprise.
The effort was part of a team up between Sudbury.com, Better Beginnings Better Future and Battistelli’s Your Independent Grocer in Lively.
Battistelli’s and Sudbury.com provided 24 turkeys while Better Beginnings Better Futures (BBBF) helped us by finding deserving families and provided the fresh fruits and vegetables through the assistance of the Sudbury Food Bank.
The turkeys were delivered to families who are active members of the BBBF community, meaning they give back to the community.
Our Acts of Kindness program has since extended to reach people in our community. Together with community partners we have been able to connect sponsors to the people our readers nominated. Together, we have gifted as much as a night out for dinner to our biggest surprise ever, a brand new home cooling system.
The best way to learn about Acts of Kindness is to visit the AOK section of our website, here: www.sudbury.com/aok
While Thanksgiving is not over, 2018's next biggest holiday--Christmas--is less than 80 days away.
For us this means we are preparing for the return of our series: 12 days of Kindness (Watch all 12 here!).
We are looking for nominations for our third annual holiday series now. While everyone celebrates the people and things that make us thankful this weekend we wonder:
Do you know someone who
Is a quiet hero giving tirelessly of their time and energy to impact positively the well-being of the community?
Is making a profound difference through acts of courage, compassion, selflessness or sacrifice despite their own challenges?
Has been faced with a painful loss or facing multiple challenges?
Is experiencing financial hardships despite determined efforts to overcome them?
Has been diagnosed or is living with a debilitating illness and requires assistance?
Nominate them for our 12 Days of Kindness, here.
