Basketball superstar, Shaquille O' Neal, expressed his love for Fort McMurray in a video he posted on Facebook May 10.
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart," O'Neal said in the video.
"You guys are the true heroes."
Fire crews, police and volunteers continue to battle the wildfire in Fort McMurray, which was first reported southwest on May 1.
By Tuesday, May 3, it had spread rapidly and engulfed large portions of the city. By May 11, more than 80,000 people were evacuated from Fort McMurray.
O'Neal closed his video by singing "Oh, Canada. We stand on guard for thee."
