Some of the alternate level of care (ALC) patients being discharged from beds at the former Memorial Hospital site over the next six weeks may be sent back to their own homes with nursing support services.

The City of Greater Sudbury would like to advise residents of following municipal service schedule on the Family Day holiday, Monday, Feb.

Although wait times at Health Sciences North continue to be higher than the provincial average, there are some bright spots, particularly in the areas of hip and knee surgeries, and MRIs.

City council has given the green light to an anti-idling bylaw for Greater Sudbury. In about a year from now, residents will be expected to turn off their vehicles after two minutes of idling. This will be preceded by a one-year education component.

The province is putting a freeze on fishing licences during the Family Day weekend. Ontario residents will be allowed to fish licence-free as part of Family Fishing Weekend, which runs from Feb. 18-20.

Student scholarships at Laurentian University will be created through a $250,000 donation from CIBC.
