Assault victim found unconscious

With the assistance of patrol officers, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division were successful in identifying the man responsible for the attack.

Zachary Eric Griessmeier, of Sudbury, was arrested Tuesday.

The victim was taken to hospital after being found unconscious in Market Square Sunday morning. He has sustained head trauma as a result of the attack and remains in serious but stable condition. 

A 21-year-old male was found unconscious in a parking lot following an assault early Sunday morning.

At 2:50 a.m., officers of the Greater Sudbury Police Service Uniform Division responded to a report of an assault in the downtown area of the Farmer’s Market, where officers discovered the unconscious young man.

The assault victim was transported to hospital and admitted.
