Two suspects are in custody after the Caisse Populaire bank on Notre Dame Avenue in Azilda was robbed today (Feb. 12) at 1:35 p.m.
A man wearing a trench coat and a ski mask entered the bank, brandished a knife, and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect fled eventually fled the bank and escaped in a stolen van being driven by a woman.
Witnesses on the scene provided excellent descriptions of the suspects and the getaway vehicle. The van, which was later found to be stolen, was located minutes later at a nearby hotel. The two suspects were located and arrested.
Nobody was injured as a result of the incident. The stolen money and the knife used by the suspect were recovered. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
