One small step for Ray Bonin, but one giant step for victims of crime.

One small step for Ray Bonin, but one giant step for victims of crime.

That?s how the veteran Nickel Belt MP described reaction to his presentation relating to Bill C-243, a private member?s bill he introduced for discussion recently in the House of Commons.

Bonin read a seven-page speech calling for support to establish a federal ombudsman for victims of crime and their families.

Bonin?s bill received overwhelming support from the opposition Tories, Bloc Quebecois members, the small contingent of NDP members and strong support from his fellow Liberals.

Bonin said he?s been working on a federal victims of crime bill for almost seven years.
