Contraband cigarettes seized in Chelmsford

The Sudbury unit of the RCMP conducted a warranted search of a Chelmsford residence Aug. 26, seizing $8,500 in cigarettes and over $11,000 in cash. Charged under the Excise act are Rejean Devost and Rachel Devost of Chelmsford.

The Sudbury unit of the RCMP conducted a warranted search of a Chelmsford residence Aug. 26, seizing $8,500 in cigarettes and over $11,000 in cash.

Charged under the Excise act are Rejean Devost and Rachel Devost of Chelmsford. The two are scheduled to appear in Sudbury court on Oct. 13.

The RCMP said it was a substantial seizure for this area, and the investigation provided valuable information on one of Sudbury's cigarette supply routes.
