Cops almost hit by drunk driver

At approximately 2:30 a.m. Monday, while on regular patrols in the area of Frood Road and College Street, officers in a marked police vehicle were almost struck by a motor vehicle that cut the corner from College Street onto Frood Road.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. Monday, while on regular patrols in the area of Frood Road and College Street, officers in a marked police vehicle were almost struck by a motor vehicle that cut the corner from College Street onto Frood Road.

The officers stopped the vehicle and found the male driver was obviously impaired by alcohol. He was taken to police headquarters where breath tests were conducted, showing the male had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

The 43-year-old driver was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and having more then the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

The male was released with a pending court date to answer to these charges.
