Driver leaps from moving vehicle

A driver of a 1997 Taurus jumped out of the moving vehicle and fled after police tried to stop him for driving the wrong way down Durham Street, around 9:15 a.m., Nov. 26.

A driver of a 1997 Taurus jumped out of the moving vehicle and fled after police tried to stop him for driving the wrong way down Durham Street, around 9:15 a.m., Nov. 26.

A bystander managed to stop the Taurus before it struck any pedestrians or vehicles, stated a release from Greater Sudbury police.

The 20-year-old man was arrested near the Rainbow Centre downtown, after additional officers arrived to help search.

The vehicle, which was towed, had been stolen, investigation revealed.

The accused is facing charges of possession of stolen property, obstructing police, flight from police, dangerous driving, and appropriate Highway Traffic Act charges.
