Former school board manager charged with fraud

After a 10-month investigation conducted by the Greater Sudbury Police service Fraud unit, a former assistant plant manager with the Conseil Scolaire Du District Du Grand Nord De L'Ontario has been charged with fraud.

After a 10-month investigation conducted by the Greater Sudbury Police service Fraud unit, a former assistant plant manager with the Conseil Scolaire Du District Du Grand Nord De L'Ontario has been charged with fraud.

Roland Simard, 51, of Azilda has been charged with one count of fraud over $5,000.

The investigation revealed that Simard abused his position of trust by charging numerous personal articles to a corporate credit card issued to him for school purposes only.

Between Jan. 1, 2001 and Oct. 31, 2003, Simard charged over $53,000 in personal goods and services to the school board's credit card.
