A fire that caused considerable damage to an industrial garage under construction on Lamondin Street in Val Caron overnight is under investigation by the Fire Marshal and Greater Sudbury police.

There was extensive charring to the brick work of the building, and several roof rafters were destroyed, said deputy chief Dan Stack.

The fire was deemed suspicious because the building lacks electricity at this time, as well as the amount of damage to the brick, which is normally not a flammable substance.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact Greater Sudbury police at 675-9171, or Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers at 675-8477 (TIPS).
