Homeowner interrupts break and enter

A 30-year-old man is facing several charges after he broke into an Albany Street detached garage May 14 and was confronted by the homeowner. The 62-year-old homeowner witnessed the break-in at around 8 p.m.

A 30-year-old man is facing several charges after he broke into an Albany Street detached garage May 14 and was confronted by the homeowner.

The 62-year-old homeowner witnessed the break-in at around 8 p.m. He had his wife phone 911 and confronted the suspect.

The homeowner held down the suspect with help from an off-duty police officer until Greater Sudbury Police arrived and took the accused into custody.

The suspect had in his possession stolen property from five other break and enters, as well as more than $2,000 worth of narcotics.

He was charged with 17 break and enter charges, as well as a drug charge. There was also a warrant out for the accused for being unlawfully at large.

Offices from the Break, Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit are investigating other break and enters throughout the city, and more charges are expected to be laid.
