Missing child leads to obstruction charges for two women

On June 11, members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service attended an east end address of the city, searching for a 12-year-old ward of the Children’s Aid Society.

On June 11, members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service attended an east end address of the city, searching for a 12-year-old ward of the Children’s Aid Society. This child was considered to be in need of protection under the auspices of the Child and Family Services Act.

After searching the residence in question, officer’s eventually located the child. However, during the course of their investigation, officers were obstructed by a 42-year-old female, as well as a 16-year-old female.

Both females were arrested as a result of their actions and charged accordingly.

The 42-year-old is scheduled to attend court on July 9 to answer to the charge of obstructing police.

The 16-year-old female is scheduled to attend court on July 10 to answer to the charges of obstructing police and causing a disturbance.

The child has been returned to the custody of the Children’s Aid Society.
