During the evening of June 12, members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to three bear complaints in different areas of the city. Officers attended the Long Lake area, Garson area and in Coniston, in relation to the bear complaints.

The bears in question were observed walking through backyards, by parked cars and other objects.

After investigating the areas, police observed that some citizens had put their garbage out at the curb of their residence for pick up in the morning.  In one case, a bird feeder was believed to have attracted the bears.

Police remind the public it is important not to put garbage out for pick up until the morning of their designated day.
