Needs more evidence

One of Sudbury?s most veteran judges said he wants to know how graphic certain images are before determining whether or not to send a man to jail after being caught with 300 images of child pornography.

Brian Yeomans, 49, pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of possession of child pornography after Greater Sudbury Police raided his Sudbury residence last Sept. 1.

Police seized 83 discs and diskettes and found about 300 images of young girls between the ages of 12 and 16.

When assistant Crown attorney Len Walker told the court he didn?t know what the images consisted of, except that they involved young girls between
the ages of 12 and 16, Justice Guy Mahaffy halted proceedings.

The judge told the court he could not consider what an appropriate sentence was until he was informed about what the images downloaded by Yeomans
consisted of.

Mahaffy said he doesn?t want to see the images himself, but wants the Crown to explain how graphic the images found by police were before he can impose an appropriate sentence.
