One cyclist dead, another injured in seperate bike accidents this week

A cyclist was killed on Wednesday morning after being struck by a truck on Municipal Road 55, east of Duhamel Road.

A cyclist was killed on Wednesday morning after being struck by a truck on Municipal Road 55, east of Duhamel Road.

Robert Dubnewych, 56, was cycling eastbound on a red 10-speed Triumph bike, wearing a red helmet, when he was hit by a 1993 GMC Sierra Pickup. The truck was driven by a 35-year-old Lively man, who was also travelling eastbound.

Dubnewych was ejected from his bicycle onto the shoulder of the road. He was taken to St. JosephÂ?s Health Centre where he died from his injuries.
Greater Sudbury Police are looking for witnesses to the accident. Anyone with information should phone 675-9171.

Cyclist injured

An 83-year-old man is lucky to be alive after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle Tuesday morning.

At around 8 am, the man was cycling west on Pine Street in Garson when he was struck by a 1992 Chevrolet Astro van, driven by a 30-year-old male.
The cyclist was taken to the intensive care unit at St. JosephÂ?s Health Centre with major head injuries.
