One dead after West Nipissing shooting

The OPP are reporting that one person is in custody and one person is deceased after a shooting incident at a residence in West Nipissing. 

On March 13, shortly after 5 p.m., members of the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on Bradley Street.

A 53-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A release from the OPP states that investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to public safety.

The investigation is in its early stages and no further details can be released at this time. The public can expect a large police presence in the area. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

The investigation is being conducted by the Nipissing West OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
